I work, ostensibly, in entertainment. I want to be an entertainer. I’m not terribly well known and that’s okay; I’m patient and I have plenty of time.
I’m not used to being recognized by people. The one way recognition of celebrity is not something that I am accustomed to because it isn’t something that happens to me a lot.
This weekend I’m attending Anime Los Angeles. I’ve done three lecture and have one left for tomorrow. Between lectures, I went to the karaoke room and, after singing, I come down off of the stage and this girl approaches me. She had a horn on her head. I think she was dressed as Lady Rainicorn or something.
Anyway, she approaches me, so sweet, and says something like, “Excuse me, you’re Victor Frost, right? From King Metamorphosis?”
In my head: “What? She knows me from KM of all things? Really? She knows who I am?”
Out Loud: ”Uh, yeah?”
Then she asks if she could take a picture with me.
In my head: “She wants to take a picture with me? Why? I’m a nobody. I’m G level internet famous at most. She wants a picture with me? Like I’m some celebrity or something?”
Out loud: “Oh, uh, yeah! Sure!”
Unicorn cosplay girl, if you’re reading this, thank you. I hope the picture came out okay. I’m sorry if I seemed a bit off, but I was just so taken aback by that whole experience that I didn’t really know how to react. I probably still don’t. My friend and I were talking about how adorable you were and I was hoping we’d run into again. We didn’t, obviously.
I’m not a celebrity, I’m just a guy. If you see me again (maybe tomorrow, maybe at another con) just come and say hi and hang out for a bit!
As for any of the rest of you who might run into me, the same goes for you!
Anyway, thanks unicorn cosplay girl, thanks again. You made my day and probably my whole convention. Send me that photo, if you see this! Victor.frost@thefrostsyndicate.com
